This weeks edition of places you probably already knew about
LUSH. I give it 5 stars. And I haven't even been there yet. I'm so excited to go. SO EXCITED. I mean oddly named, over-priced hippie cosmetics, each item with its own back story and handcrafted?? IN LOVE. I'm so there. It just screams my name. Their henna comes in a block which you grate with a cheese grater. They have bars of shampoo and you have the option of looking at only VEGAN products. The ridiculousness is awesomely amazing. And I say that most lovingly. Please understand. Did I mention the love I feel for this place? So much. Anyway, has dailycandy already done a review of this place? Cuz if not, ya know, I love to write :)

Jill Lindsey
A Fall/Winter '09 collection. Makes me disgusted with myself for having an uncontrollable craving for cold weather. Who was just bitching about it not being warm enough??

Worship Worthy loves the factory
Worship Worthy interviews 'I Love Factory'. 'How many styles do you work on that never make it into the collection?
Christopher: We do so many custom pieces and those are never part of the collections. They usually stay at the showroom as inspiration for future custom pieces, or for press or as part of Laurel’s personal collection.
Millinery was big in NYC amongst tenement residents during the late 1800’s, given the current state of the economy do you think we’ll see a resurgence in hand crafted goods?
Christopher: Millinery is something that should be done by hand and made specific. I think right now more than ever people are craving accessories and clothing that is made by hand. They can appreciate the time and effort that goes into making each piece. There is so much clutter out there and if you are going to spend money on something it should be exceptional quality, evoke emotion and be timeless.
We can see your pieces worn by ladies at the historic Kentucky Derby, do events like these inspire specific designs?
Christopher: Not specifically, but that may be since we have never attended one. We do admire a big event like the Kentucky Derby where people have such freedom of costume.
If your work was the lovechild of two people who would they be?
Laurel: I think it would be all those French new–wave movies but if John Waters were directing them instead, and Alice and Wonderland and crew were styling.'

A Peace Treaty
I was going to try and explain it myself, but their about page is better than anything I could say. And fancy too : )
So, I don't remember doing this, (nothing new there) but I guess I signed up for their newsletter some time back. When I check my inbox this morning, there it was, an e-mail from A Peace Treaty, saying their Spring line is out. Obviously, I was intrigued, and when I saw the scarves, blown away. They really are beautiful, and knowing when they came from and that they were hand made, makes them special. I may have to splurge!
And so many more...

TOMS
You recycle. Your all about the Green Movement. You joined Change.org to try and get involved. You'd join the Peace Core if your keeping your job wasn't your main priority. So what else can you do? TOMS got your answer. You can combine your love of shoes with your need to help out. 'Since it beginning in May 2006, TOMS has given over 10,000 shoes to children in Argentina and 50,000 pairs in South Africa. ' (source: Our Cause) The deal is for every pair you purchase, TOMS gives a pair to a child in need. Recall how large, wealthy companies sometimes donate $5 or so for every $20 you donate? This is so much better. And did I mention they're ridiculously comfortable? To view more styles check the website.

Skin and Threads
'It’s about the fabrics, the fit, the luxury and the look. It’s about making the basic work for you, understanding what it means to wear natural fabrics and incorporating them into your lifestyle.'- Skin and Threads website
I'd wear Skin and Threads over AA any day. Organic and natural fabric makes may get me and my conscience back on speaking terms.
